It is not a secret that I love cars, specially European cars even thought I have never had one, but lets face the facts. An American car is as good as a toothache, you will stand the pain until you can get rid of it. A Japanese car is usually very good, comfortable and efficient but they usually lack the glamour of others. A European car is good, comfortable and luxurious... ok, well maybe not all of them, but the Italian (Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati), German (BMW, Mercedes Benz and AUDI) and British (Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Bentley and Aston Martin) ones are simply fantastic.
(this is not mine, but it is pretty much the same one)
I still remember the question I got from my good friend "Loco Becerra" a couple of years ago when I told him about my new job: now you will buy a nice brand new car, right? And I surprised him and myself answering, NO! I will wait to see how it goes. At that time I was talking about the job, but then it turns out to be about the cars. I was asking myself... should I get a sedan or a SUV? should it be japanese or european? new or used? Long research on its way, right? A year later I was pretty much sure it was going to be a used Volvo S60... yes, I know... a year is a lot of time to make a decision, but in my relationship with cars that is the normal process... hahaha!!!
(Volvo s60 2004)
Since then new events in my life postponed the acquisition of that car. One more year has passed and I am still driving the same old loyal Isuzu Rodeo. I am not complaining, I do like my SUV, it doesn't look that good anymore but I don't care about that, it is not comfortable for long trips but it has a decent mpg and it is cheap to maintain. And it does its work: it takes me to my job place everyday. Then, thinking about the Global Warming or Green House Effect and our dependency on fossil fuels, I realized that we ALL need a better option: a PLUG-IN CAR!!!
(Toyota Prius 2009)
Yes! A fully functional electrical vehicle, or at least a hybrid that can be recharged at home. That is what I want. Too bad the current offers are not there yet, but guess what... soon it will be, I read next year Toyota will offer a Prius you can recharge anywhere and it will give you an equivalent of 100 mpg, isn't it awesome? So, there you have it, I will wait for it or for the ones that will be offered in 2010. It is only 2 more years from now or maybe less... I already waited 2 so I am closer to see what options I will have by then... maybe a good-looking European pluggable too... hehe!!!
