Digital TV Transition and something else

I was going to post about the weird case of a local dialect/language in Boonville, California, or about the fact that federal taxes have increased or will be, or the annoying reality that we might get an IOU from the California State (those suckers in Sacramento haven't reached an agreement yet), or about the latest news in Peru about the "petroaudios", but I decided to post about something that is affecting us (the ones who live in USA) these days: the Digital TV Transition.

Yep! That's right, it is happening or it already happened to certain degree despite the stupid idea of delaying it until June 12. Anyway, the point is that most of us do not understand the details behind this transition from analog signals to digital signals Over The Air (OTA), so, the best way to learn about it is reading online and I couldn't find a better place than Wikipedia. These are the links I think are the most valuable ones: Digital Television, Digital Cable, Digital Subchannel and Virtual Channel.

Also, I found a great site - AV Science Forum - where you most probably will find answer to all your questions, either by searching previous ones or posting your own ones. I am sure someone "out there" will be a good Samaritan and will answer your question no matter how simple or complicated it is. I have used the "San Francisco, CA - Comcast" thread inside the "Local HDTV Info and Reception" forum with good results. For a DTV/HDTV channel list in the Bay Area I recommend the web page provided by Larry Kenney, it think it is fairly complete and accurate; another good source for this info is the web page provided by my favorite local news channel KRON 4. Good luck and good night!

Digitally.
