Nomi Ruiz: An enigmatic voice

While watching LatiNation on TV - yep, sometimes I do watch TV too just because old habits are hard to die - I found a new dance latin group named Jessica 6, the name itself got me curious besides the obvious fact of a potential new latin group playing really cool music. As usual these guys waited till the end of the TV show to talk about the group, not much, so I went back to the Net. It looks like they just got together after playing in other bands, but the most enigmatic voice was the singer Nomi Ruiz, if you don't believe me just press play.

She looks and most importantly sounds androgynous. Since I did like her voice and the music I wanted more, thanks god for the Net, I found this other video where she is part of Hercules And Love Affair.

After reviewing some web pages, it looks like Nomi has been around for a while and she is described here like this: "If you’ve ever seen Hercules and Love Affair, you were probably struck with the fact that their trans woman vocalist Nomi Ruiz is quite possibly the (most?) beautiful woman in America. Her superhero body, giraffe legs and alluring mouth nearly (but just nearly) overshadow her ability to carry a live band. Dance moves and costume changes were shown, but more than anything was her stunning ability to carry the vocals on “Blind,” a song originaly sung by Antony Hegarty."
