Inca Gold Pisco at BevMo

I don't usually do this kind of advertising but since this is about my favorite drink in the world: Pisco, I will make an exception. So, today I got the following information via e-mail from apnorcal.

More than a little Peruvian flavor

Yesterday in the early afternoon we were walking around the Cow Hollow neighborhood after having lunch at Pizza Orgasmica - by the way it is not that great as we were told and it is overpriced - and on our way back to the parking lot we stop at a coffee place named Espresso Roma Cafe (you might have driven or walked by a 100 times and hardly noticed it) to get something to drink... we were really thirsty... and it was good... we just had Italian Soda and Ice Latte, good size for the price and good taste, nothing extraordinary but good, and the music selection was great (Latin Rock from the 80s and 90s) so I couldn't resist to ask about it and the girl in charge recognize my Latino heritage (not hard to tell) and she end up being from Peru too... a little chat here and there, her boyfriend who also works there is also Peruvian... so I felt at home, good atmosphere ergo we end up staying there longer than we expected reading newspapers and enjoying some "people-watching" while finishing our delicious drinks... sure we'll be back to try some of the food.

After that little walk we headed to visit our Peruvian friends in San Mateo, had a nice chat with a couple of glasses of wine, crackers and deliciouos cheese. So, the original plan was to have dinner at our favorite Peruvian restaurant in the Bay Area Estampas Peruanas but our friends mentioned a new place close to their home and it ended up being the same place Sarah found by accident while driving to our friend's home: Las Americas. It was getting late and Sarah was really hungry, we walked the few blocks to try out this new place and the food was really good, a real Peruvian flavor. We had "Calamares fritos", "Papa Rellena", "Chaufa de Mariscos", "Picante de Mariscos", a pitcher of "Chicha Morada" and at the end the famous "Picarones", simply WOW!!! The place itself is nothing special, actually it is a hole in the wall since they share the space with a liquor store (kind of odd but it works), we didn't care. The owners are the original owners of Lucuma, another great Peruvian restaurant in Peninsula that suddenly closed a year ago or so and now we know why.

It was a great way of spending our Saturday, no plans at all, just hit the road for some adventure in the sunny San Francisco Bay Area to celebrate the day of the Pisco Sour eventhough we were not aware of it and we didn't have any... hahaha!!!
